Trinseo Showcases Sustainably Advantaged PC Solutions at 6th Plastics Forum Recyclates
Trinseo attended the 6th Plastics Forum Recyclates from March 13-14, where Global Sustainability Business Development Manager Benjamin Porter presented on the future of polycarbonate (PC) solutions in supporting a circular economy.
PC solutions provide unique material characteristics that make them intrinsically beneficial for certain applications, such as consumer goods and electronics, lighting, building and construction, and automotive. Trinseo is advancing recycling technologies for PC so that recyclate-containing solutions can continue to meet these performance demands.
During his presentation, Porter highlighted that Trinseo is expanding its commercial offerings regarding CALIBRE PC, adding mechanically recycled and BIO-attributed feedstocks while developing dissolution as the next circular route to handle contaminated or degraded waste streams as a plastic-to-plastic recycling scheme. This first-of-its-kind approach for PC recycling is expected to come on-line by the first quarter of 2025 and will help establish more circular pathways for solutions that contain this polymer and support customers’ carbon emission reduction goals.
